4× 160 Gbit/s WDM transmission by a cascade of semiconductor LOAs

Abstract

The highest bit rate amplification and transmission using semiconductor based linear optical amplifiers as repeaters is successfully demonstrated. We achieved error free operation for four wavelengths of polarization-bit-interleaved 160 Gbit/s signals.
