Photonic crystal fibre laser source for short-wavelength multi-photon laser scanning microscopy

Abstract

We report a source based on soliton self-frequency shift in microstructured fibres for multi-photon microscopy of calcium indicators. We demonstrate the system by imaging smooth muscle cells from the rat pulmonary vein loaded with fura-2/AM.
