Novel Fabrication Techniques for the Realisation of Passive Waveguide Polarisation Converters

Abstract

Design, fabrication and characterisation of GaAs/AlGaAs passive polarisation converters realised through the use of three novel approaches is reported. The devices have been tested at λ=0.9µm and 1.3µm, producing TE-TM conversion efficiencies up to 70%.
