Determination of the Modal Reflection Coefficients in Air-core Photonic-bandgap Fiber Terminations

Abstract

The backreflection of air-core photonic-bandgap fiber modes is computed for the first time. For the fundamental mode, the reflection is approximately 10−6 in air and 3.3% in silica.
