Efficient Light-Emitting Diodes Fabricated with a Spin-on Photonic Crystal Surface Grating

Abstract

An etched-post photonic crystal surface grating was incorporated into 11,000 visible light-emitting diodes with a highly parallel fabrication method involving spin-on polystyrene nanoparticles. Devices showed up to a 51% improvement in wall plug efficiency.
