Generation of sub-two-cycle pulses in mid-infrared region by four-wave rectification in air

Abstract

Generation of mid-infrared pulses by four-wave mixing through filamentation in air has been demonstrated. The pulse width was measured as 13 fs, which corresponds to 1.3 optical cycles. The output energy reaches 1.5 μJ.
