A novel experimental method is demonstrated to precisely characterize optical-frequency deviation within 4 MHz between orthogonal axes in a high-birefringence fiber arising from the SBS-induced dynamic acoustic-grating. This precision means a birefringence accuracy of 3*10<sup>-8</sup>.
