Large Tunability of an Optically Pumped Mid-IR Laser with Chirped Distributed-Feedback Grating

Abstract

A CW, single-longitudinal-mode, optically pumped, type-II distributed-feedback laser at 4.3 µm is reported. Tunability of 27 nm (14 cm-1) is obtained with the novel chirped grating design at a fixed temperature of 77 K.
