Optical Guiding of Atoms through a Hollow-Core Photonic Band-Gap Fiber

Abstract

We have demonstrated guiding of rubidium atom through a hollow core photonic bandgap fiber. Rb atoms from a thermal oven travel down 6 cm fiber with an efficiency that is greater than 70%.
