Abstract

Near-IR diode laser sensors have successfully entered a number of commercial markets. New application opportunities for these and related sensors in the automotive industry are described. Progress in MWIR and LWIR diode laser-based sources is highlighted, along with new opportunities that these lasers will address. Heterodyne measurement techniques, allowing for sensitive room-temperature detection methods in the FIR are described.
