Submicron Diameter Micropillar Cavities with High Quality Factor and Ultra-small Mode Volume

Abstract

We theoretically demonstrated high quality factor (Q~250,000) micropillar cavities with record low mode volume for a 340nm diameter titania/silica micropillar. It represents a three orders of magnitude Q/V enhancement compared to any previous micropillar cavities.
