Coherent beam combining of fiber amplifiers and solid-state lasers, including the use of diffractive optical elements

Abstract

Two significant coherent combining solid state laser systems will be described. One approach uses a fiber optic amplifier array and the other uses 7 tiled slab amplifier chains. The first of these demonstrated very high efficiency and near perfect beam quality. The 2nd of these approaches reached a world record 105 kW of power CW.
