Free-running Single Photon Detector Based on an InGaAs Negative Feedback Avalanche Photodiode with an Extremely Low Dark Count Rate

Abstract

We demonstrate high performance operation of a single photon detection module based on an InGaAs avalanche photodiode in free-running mode. A dark count rate of 1 cps is measured for an efficiency value of 10%.
