Abstract

We report on a coherent detection of monochromatic terahertz-wave pulses by using a frequency up-conversion in a nonlinear MgO:LiNbO3 crystal at room temperature. The generation of the detection signal is based on optical parametric mixing between a generated terahertz-wave radiation and a seeded idler beam, and an intense near-IR pumping beam. We measured the intensity and the phase of the input terahertz-wave.
