Abstract

We review the potential of compact diode laser based systems for Terahertz (THz) technology. We discuss different concepts for two color lasers for generating continuous wave THz radiation by photomixing and demonstrate a femtosecond diode laser based system for time domain THz sampling. Finally, we present a compact multi modal diode laser based terahertz spectroscopy system. Our configuration enables fast switching from continuous wave difference frequency generation to broadband THz emission enabling a sophisticated data analysis like much more complex time domain spectroscopy (TDS) systems.
