Bending Terahertz Beams in “Free Space”

Abstract

We demonstrate terahertz beam bending in the free-space region created between two metallic plates. This is achieved by realizing a non-uniform distribution of the effective refractive index, causing empty space to mimic an inhomogeneous dielectric.
