Evaluation of High Quality Factor Photonic Crystal Slabs for Biosensing

Abstract

Guided resonance modes in photonic crystal slab biosensors are characterized. Quality factors for TE-like and TM-like resonances of approximately 3000 and 1000 respectively are observed. These are the highest reported values to date.
