Abstract

We report on passive Q-switching of a Tm-doped BaY2F8 (Tm:BYF) laser using Cr:ZnS saturable absorber achieving single pulse energies as high as 0.72 mJ, peak power exceeding 17 kW and pulse duration of 40 ns.
