Binary Depth Detection based on Cross-Spectral Density

Abstract

We have developed an optical system for discriminating depth between two uniformly illuminated featureless objects based on cross-spectral density. With volume holograms, we encode the lateral and axial dimensions in wavelength and spatial coherence, respectively.
