Phase-space optics applied to the design of Talbot array illuminators

Abstract

The phase-space description of optical signals is used to design Talbot array illuminators. Array illuminators with arbitrary compression ratio can be designed from simple geometrical transformations of a schematic phase-space diagram without explicit reference to the fractional Talbot effect.
