Abstract

Oxyfluoride glass-ceramics containing CaF2 nanocrystals doped with 1 mol % Er and 2 mol% Yb ions have been prepared and characterized. Upconverted visible emissions under 980 nm excitation are found to be enhanced due to CaF2 nanocrystals.
