Skill standards and curricula for photonics technicians

Abstract

CORD received an NSF/ATE grant to develop curricula and educational programs in photonics for community/technical colleges. The first task was development of, “National Photonics Skills Standards for Technicians” describing employer requirements/educational specifications in: lighting/illumination; medicine; communication; manufacturing; optoelectronics; and imaging/remote sensing. Curriculum materials and pilot testing/implementation will be accomplished over the next two years.
