Abstract
We report on a novel fiber based modal filter for radially and azimuthally polarized modes. This modal filter consists of a Fiber-Bragg-Grating written in a high NA fiber where the modal degeneration is lifted. If the radially and azimuthally polarized modes are not degenerated they will exhibit different effective refractive indexes and, therefore, they can be spectrally separated using a narrowband Fiber-Bragg-Grating. A proof-of-principle experiment is carried out for the azimuthally polarized mode using a commercially available high NA fiber and a fs-written Fiber-Bragg-Grating.
