Abstract

ESA and Eumetsat have given the go-ahead for the Meteosat Third Generation Programme at the end of 2010. Aboard MTG-S is the Infrared Sounder (IRS), an imaging Fourier Transform infrared spectrometer. This paper is giving an overview of the instrument and its development status.
