Abstract

A new type of grating eigenmode has been predicted and analyzed numerically for holographic gratings in a slab with mean permittivity larger than the surrounding media. These eigenmodes were shown to exist in the geometry of grazing angle scattering, i.e., when the +1 diffracted order propagates almost parallel to the grating boundaries.
