Real Time Measurement of 2-D Phase Retardation and Optical Axis of a Wave Plate

Abstract

To measure phase retardation and optical axis of retarder plate in real time, a novel polarized optical heterodyne interferometer is developed. The features of this setup are (1) common-path configuration (2) independence of laser intensity and (3) real-time measurement of two-dimensional distributions.
