Microstructured optical fibers: Enabling integrated tunability for dynamic photonic applications

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

We review fundamental properties of holey fibers and discuss emerging applications. In particular, emphasis is on novel photonic devices enabled by the unique microstructured cladding of these fibers, including tunable, switchable and highly nonlinear holey fiber. Recent results on tunable microfluidic holey fibers will be presented.
