Effect of amplification on distribution of conductance in disordered waveguide

Abstract

Introduction of optical gain in disordered waveguide results in enhanced fluctuations [var(g)/〈g2] of dimensionless conductance, similar to the effect of Anderson localization. Using numerical simulations we demonstrate important differences /similarities between these two effects.
