Improved Luminescence in Light-Emitting Diodes Using Esaki Tunnel Junctions

Abstract

Bipolar cascade light-emitting diodes are investigated to improve luminescence uniformity. Significant enhancements are demonstrated in luminescence efficiency and uniformity compared withp-i-n LEDs. This results from more uniform hole injection into the quantum wells.
