Optical isolator based on a rectangular waveguide with helical grooves

Abstract

Rectangular waveguide with slanted grooves in its sidewalls can be used as an optical isolator due to the chirality effect. Even the crudest implementations of chirality are shown to exhibit significant directional asymmetry.
