3D Photonic Crystals Fabrication in Lithium Niobate: Towards Nonlinearity and Functionality

Abstract

We report the fabrication of three-dimensional photonic crystals in a high refractive index lithium niobate by using a femtosecond laser-induced microexplosion method. Photonic bandgaps with ~30% suppression rate for an FCC structure have been observed.
