XPM-induced modulation instability in SOI photonic nanowires

Abstract

We demonstrate that modulation instability of copropagating optical waves can be observed in millimeter-long silicon photonic nanowires. The calculated gain of the modulation instability is more than 100× larger than that achieved in optical fibers.
