Band Structure and Coupled Surface Plasmons in one dimensional Photonic Crystals

Abstract

A one dimensional photonic crystal made of metallic sheets provides a huge band gap which is omni directional for all angles of incidence. Parallel propagation of light yields the physics of surface plasmons in such systems.
