Scintillation of nonuniformly polarized beams in atmospheric turbulence

Abstract

The scintillation properties of a class of nonuniformly polarized beams propagating in atmospheric turbulence are numerically investigated. They are demonstrated to have appreciably smaller scintillation than comparable beams of uniform polarization.
