Scatterer Mediated Modal Coupling in Active Optical Microcavities

Abstract

Scattering induced mode splitting is demonstrated in active microcavities which are optically pumped below and above the lasing threshold. We show that optical gain can enhance light-matter interactions and improve the sensitivity of nanoparticle detection.
