An Integrated Fan-Out Device for Astrophotonics

Abstract

A fan-out device is presented which connects a 120 core multicore fiber to a linear waveguide array. This technology enables interfacing of multicore fibers to diffraction limited slits (e.g. arrayed waveguide gratings) for astrophotonic spectroscopy.
