Optically Induced and Directed Manipulation on Surfaces

Abstract

This paper describes our work trapping colloidal particles near surfaces using evanescent fields and optically induced thermal gradients. These techniques provide controlled long-range trapping of colloidal matter and insight into light scattering and thermophoretic effects.
