Optical Delay in Photonic Crystals: Accelerating Slow Light

Abstract

We use an indirect photonic transition to alter the group velocity of a pulse in a silicon photonic crystal waveguide. Delays of up to 20ps, with efficiencies of 30%, are achievable in a 300µm waveguide.
