Direct observation of pulse splitting dynamics and self-compression along a femtosecond filament

Abstract

We present a setup capable of directly tracking pulse dynamics along a femtosecond filament. Employing a SHG-FROG setup, we observe pulse-splitting dynamics and self-compression below three optical cycles to 5.29 fs.
