Abstract
Within the EPS Ground Segment for Metop-A, the IASI L1 Near- Real-Time (NRT) monitoring performed at EUMETSAT is introduced and results from the IASI L1 product quality monitoring of the first two years of Metop-A operations are presented. The focus is on the NWP (ECMWF- forecast) based IASI L1 radiance monitoring and on the comparison of co-located IASI and HIRS/4 infrared channels using IASI based HIRS pseudo channels 1 to 19.
A very good agreement between NWP based radiance monitoring is found for the full period. These results are supported by the IASI vs. HIRS comparison. The IASI based so-called HIRS pseudo channels are generated using the HIRS spectral response functions in combination with the respective IASI channels. Additionally, a summary on the IASI L1C quality indicators is given.
