Abstract

Observational studies of aerosol and cloud in East Asia are reviewed focusing on the comparison and collaboration between ground-based measurements and satellite remote sensing. Aerosols in this region consist of anthropogenic aerosols such as sulfate and black carbon, and also of dust particles so called Yellow Sand particularly in spring season. Those aerosols affect low clouds in this region. The way to merge various data in different temporal and spatial scale is discussed here. It is suggested that aerosol transport models such as CFORS as well as cloud resolving models are quite important to utilize the observed data for aerosol and cloud studies.
