Analytic singular value decomposition of a channeled spectropolarimeter

Abstract

Channeled spectropolarimetry is a technique for measuring the spectral dependence of the polarization state of light. We treat the technique as a linear operator and study its singular value decomposition (SVD). Analytic computation of the SVD points to heterodyning as a convenient method of data reduction.
