In this tutorial, we will discuss key advances in control and probing of atomic structures, of electronic and magnetic order and of transient band structures in strongly correlated electron systems. These dynamics are typically controlled with near and far infrared radiation and probed with ultrafast x-ray scattering, spectroscopy and with time and angle resolved photo-emission.
