Abstract

We consider the intrinsic limitations to the time resolution and the ability to detect diffraction of transient species from femtosecond pump-probe photocrystallography. The quantum yield of photoisomerisation of the Photoactive Yellow Protein strongly depends on peak power, dispersion and wavelength with femtosecond optical excitation.
