Tolerance Assignment for Minimizing Manufacturing Cost

Abstract

An automated procedure for tolerance assignment is described. Tolerances are assigned so as to minimize manufacturing cost, subject to a constraint on minimum acceptable lens performance. A simulation evaluates the cost-effectiveness of the program.
