Metallodielectric optical antennas for enhancing and directing spontaneous emission

Abstract

We exploit concepts from plasmonics and cavity quantum electrodynamics to devise new optical antennas for controlling spontaneous emission. The proposed antennas reduce the excited-state lifetimes to about 100 fs while maintaining quantum efficiencies around 80%.
