Spontaneous Emission β-factors in Photonic Crystal Waveguides: Towards Single-mode LED

Abstract

We theoretically study light emission in photonic crystal waveguides and show that remarkably large spontaneous emission rates into the fundamental guided mode (β-factor > 95%) can be obtained over a 40-nm-large spectral interval at 950nm.
