Finite thickness effect on slab-type asymmetrical two- dimensional photonic crystal waveguides

Abstract

We show that a two-dimensional (2-D) Photonic crystal with an asymmetrical structure in the thickness direction can have a Photonic Band Gap. We also demonstrate that its waveguide can confine the light in the in-plane direction, even if it is thin.
