Ultra Low Loss High Index Difference Waveguides

Abstract

Scattering loss in dielectric waveguides as a function of index difference and roughness is presented. We have developed loss reduction methods that reduce the losses from 35 dB/cm to 0.8 dB/cm for Si/SiO2 strip waveguides.
