Abstract

Periodic and aperiodic distributed parameter waveguides have many applications in integrated optical components (IOC's) dedicated for dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) photonic networks. Usually, fabrication methods are based on photorefractive [1], and dry-etching techniques [2]. More recently, laser ablation technique have been employed for realizing gratings in LiNbOs channel annealed-proton-exchanged waveguides. Using this approach, 6 % reflective gratings have been fabricated [3].
